Fall

Back to School!

winter2 winter3 winter1

Fall means back to School. But don't let papers and midterms get you down, the Santa Cruz Ski and Snowboard Club is here to help you blow off some steam! We throw parties and day rages all fall to keep your mind sane while we wait for winter. The SCSSC's first big meeting takes place at the very beginning of October and is a great place to find out about the club and join.

If you like free stuff (like a snowboard or two and a pair of skis) then don't miss out! We have way too much schwag from our sponsors and we're giving it all away! After the First Big Meeting we have parties all the time as we wait for the snow to fall and day rages with live music too. The only catch is that you always have to dress up! You don't want to be the only kid not in a toga right?!

Winter

Our favorite time of the year!

winter3 winter2 winter1

This is what we are all about! After ALL CAL (and the two week necessary recovery time); we're back in the snow as soon as possible. We do trips to Tahoe almost every weekend in the winter hitting up Alpine Meadows and Homewood in North Lake Tahoe and Kirkwood in South Lake Tahoe.

The first weekend trip is over MLK weekend and we'll be riding with our friends from UC Davis! On Nor-Cal (Presidents weekend also at Kirkwood) and So-Cal (At Mammoth) we meet up with the other UC's for mini-All Cals. If you missed All Cal, these trips are for you! Ask anyone about last year, and you will hear some epic stories.

We do weekend trips for dirt cheap. It's only $30 a night to stay with us and we provide housing, beverages, and rides to the mountain. Not only that but the club gets hooked up with lift tickets which only cost between $25-$35 a day at Krikwood and Alpine Meadows; that's half the cost then if you went without the SCSSC! Sign ups for weekend trips are always the Wednesday before the trip at Surf City Billiards at 8pm.

Also available through the club is the brand new Tripl3 Threat Season Pass (for only $255!) which is good at Alpine Meadows, Kirkwood, and Homewood. There are no blackout dates for Kirkwood! What's that price again? $255!

Spring

Doesn't mean the fun stops!

spring2 spring1

NNow one would think that spring time would be a sad time for a ski clubber. You are mistaken. We are sad that the snow is gone but that doesn't mean we stop having fun! Every spring with the SCSSC is different, however you can look forward to these events:

  • Float Trip - Riding in rafts down a river... with fun barrels of course
  • House Boats on Memorial Day Weekend - Learning to play Beer Die is a necessity
  • Jello Wrestling - No explanation needed
  • Sky Diving!
  • We also have an intramural softball team called the Wounded Soldiers
  • Plus other shenanigans as often as possible
